Today is our final day at Mipa. Last night The staff held a talent show, which was very fun to watch and in some cases listen to. After the Talent show there was dance, which was also very fun.

This camp wasn’t just to learn aboot journalism, its a way to meet people and new friends while to majority of yours are back home.

Even though this is my second time being here I learned new thing and met new people,as-well as seeing friends from last time.

Over all I really enjoyed the camp, and i will be coming back

First, second and third places were given out. In third was a student who sang “Popular” from the musical Wicked, second was a student monologue entitle “Romeo and Juliet 2.0”, and in first was a student who sang “Fidelity” by Regina Spektor.

So MIPA was amazing. I’ve most likely said that a million times. There’s most definitely no dull moment at MIPA. Last night I attended the talent show and dance. They both were really interesting. I didn’t realize that there are so many people at MIPA have such talent. I had a few favorites, such as the guy who juggled. The dance was great. The DJ was better than I imagined. I really liked how he blended the songs together so that there wasn’t a long awkward pause. He even played one my favorite songs Shake It by Metro Station. I get to see them tonight at the Filmore, performing with three other bands for the Soundtrack of Your Summer tour. I’m excited for that as well. I’ll for sure miss MIPA and the times I had here. For anyone who’s not graduating next year, like me, go to MIPA. It’s worth it!

Hailey: Final Day

Well today is the last day and I’m going to miss MIPA! I loved learning about all this new technology and being in this environment where everyone has a common interest in journalism. It’s a fun way to meet people that you have something in common with and learn new things every day. I had so much fun with my friends and am going to miss hanging out with them every day but of course we will still hang out as often as possible. I am however looking forward to going home, driving my car, sleeping in my own bed, eating better food, and seeing everyone that I miss. =]]

I’m looking forward to this school year so I can use these new things I learned and finishing up my senior year and going to college! I’m glad I went to this camp to basically start out my year but right now I’m going to go home and enjoy the rest of my summer! =]]

I hope everyone had an amazing time here and I encourage everyone who isn’t graduating this year to come back next year because MIPA really is an experience.

So yesterday was pretty cool. They had a talent show, and the kids that performed were pretty good. =]

And today I realize that this is the last day of mipa, and I went from not really wanting to go here to thinking this place is really cool. =] I’m going to miss it, and I’ll most likely come back next year with some of my friends. =D

So another press conference. I tried to pay attention, however, it was really hard. I was extremely exhausted, which is stange because I caught up on my sleep last night. We listened to three cast member of Wicked talk about how they got started acting, when they acted as a kid, who inspires them, how long they’ve been with the production, what roles they play in the production and much more. I really like Merideth Kaye Clark. She had a lot of great things to say. Her personality was bubbly and that was the only thing really keeping me awake. 🙂

Clark, Lightstone

Today we attended a press conference with three members of the Wicked cast. Two of the ensemble members, Merideth Clark and Blake Whyte, were understudies for lead roles and the third, Philip “Poodle” Lightstone, was the dance captain. The three hour musical is about the land of Oz from The Wizard of Oz before and after Dorothy’s visit. The play digs into the moral definitions of “good” and “wicked” and tries to define the two. There is also a love triangle and some politics dealing with the freedom of Oz’s animals.

The cast members offered useful advice they had gathered from experience. For those interested in the theater industry they recommended going to school for the skills you’re not good at in order to become more well rounded. They said to find and surround yourself with positive people who support you as well as to be open to meeting these people. Clark told us that when she first got her understudy part be was very fearful of the responsibility of learning the entire play. She found, however, that she caught on quickly and overcoming her fear helped her gain confidence.

In addition to working for Wicked, Clark is a singer/songwriter with her very own website as well as many side projects such as “Girl Robot”.

Bailey: Seeing some cast members of Wicked.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicToday we got to see three of the members of the cast of the broadway musical Wicked. They included two actors and one dance instructor.

They were all really cool and answered everyone’s questions. It turns out that being in a musical requires tons of hard work. The whole time you work with them you basically have no home because you’re always moving around so much, and one guy had been working there for two years. That’s two years with no home.

They also said it was really difficult to keep up relationships with people outside the group of workers because you barely got time to talk to anyone with such a busy schedule.

One of the singers, Merideth, has her own website. You can view it here.

Overall it was really cool to get to see them. =D

Today we went to a press conference with three people from the cast of “Wicked.” They seemed like really interesting, genuine people and they also gave some pretty good advice. They all actually tried out for the part numerous times before they got the part. That to me is inspiring because most people would give up after years of trying to get something that they wanted but they didn’t and finally succeeded.

ECONO CRISIS (CONNOR)

Yesterday I went to go see see a seminar on the economy called econo-me.

There was a panel of three experts and one senior high school student.

At first they introduced themselves and talked for five minutes about their experiences with the decaying economy. The one senior high student talked about how her dad had worked a ford motor CO. for twenty years, and because Ford was making job cuts they were offering buyouts. However, nobody took the buyouts and they just went straight to firing people. Emily Wilkins father made it through two Job cuts, for them only to learn that there is another coming in the summer again.

After They had finished talking about their views they then answered question from the crowd.

For them to explain their views it took twenty minutes, for them finish answering all the questions, two and half hours.
